First Post – Talk About Next Book

Hello everyone! Welcome to ethanjepsen.com. This is the very first blog post of (hopefully) many. As an author, I am so excited to not only talk about my books, but to have a place to talk to people! Websites and blogs and all this is all new to me, so bear with me. If you would like to stay up to date on all of my future posts and updates, make sure you’re subscribed to our newsletter so that you’ll be the first to know!

Alright. The Agitators Trilogy came to a close with my biggest book yet, Puppetmaster. I was so very proud of this book and my accomplishments throughout the entire trilogy. But the biggest question was… well Ethan… what comes next? You’re done with a three year journey. What do you have up your sleeve now? Well, I’ll let you know what I’m thinking of… sorta.

For the most part, I have been able to keep this a secret. I’m still hoping that I can keep some things still secret, as I like surprises, and I liked surprised readers. But, first I will answer some questions I’ve had about this book.

Are you done with the Agitators? Yes. I am done with the Agitators. They’re story has closed, and I’m letting it rest. However… I’m not quite done with their universe. You may see some characters from time to time, even having some play a key role. I love connecting my books, imagining that everything is interconnected. So while reading one of my books, be sure to keep an eye out. Jacob Connor might just pop up somewhere.

Are you still doing dystopian? Yes! An author writes what he reads, and for the time being, that is my core reading.

Will you ever write anything outside of Dystopian? Yes. At least, I hope to. Right now, I have quite a few stories floating around my head including: fantasy, historical fiction, and sci-fi. The historical fiction, as of now, might be the closest one to creation. See, in my head, stories need to be mostly thought-out. It’s hard to write if you don’t know you’re ending. So even though a story may change throughout the course of a book (heaven knows it did with the Agitators) you need to at least know point A and point B. That being said, the book currently in production (which I will tell you about, I promise) has had it’s story bouncing around my head since Trial Through Fire. The historical fiction is a close second in line. Wait your turn, buddy.

What is this new book about!!!! Alright! That’s probably what everyone is wondering now! I’ve held out on you for too long.

I’ve only recently started on Chapter 1, and as I write, I’ll post updates. As I said, I will keep a lot of the details from you, slowly letting you in on some secrets as the book progresses. The working title currently is: The Broken Codex. It is a story I have been so excited to write!

Now… here’s the exciting part. I lied… a little bit. When I said I was done with the Agitators, I meant it. I truly didn’t mean to deceive in any way. The Agitators’ story has closed… but the world hasn’t told all of it’s story.

The Broken Codex will follow a character everyone knows and… does not love. It will act as a prequel to the Agitators Trilogy. As some characters may be recurring, the main point will be from this character’s point of view. The Agitators will play a minimal role in The Broken Codex, but still be set in the same world, just earlier.

I am so excited to write this book, maybe just as much as I am excited for you guys to read it! This will be a fantastic journey, and I’m so stoked for you to come with me. Contact me at any time, I will be more than happy to respond. FYI though, if you’re looking for spoilers, my lips are sealed.

Thank you! More updates coming soon! Till then;

Ethan Jepsen
